PAR Honda at Mallory Park - Anderson and his mates

News Thursday 24th March 2010

It was a mixed day for the PAR Honda squad in tough conditions at the second round of the Maxxis British motocross championship at Mallory Park. After missing the first round at Little Silver Scott Elderfield made his return to the race track, Scott decided to race the MX1 in preference to MX2.

The choice was a good one as Scott mixed it with GP regulars such as Pichon, Swanepoel, Sword and Borbryshev in three super charged races.

Scott Elderfield – MX1 3RD Overall
“Today went so much better than I thought; I just wasn’t expecting that result. I rode strong and felt really comfortable on the bigger bike and there is more to come. The guys today like Pichon and Brad, I have always looked up to those guys so racing them was a lot of fun. It’s strange because I haven’t been in the gym for over four months so for me my fitness will need to improve off the bike, next week is gym week for sure. We go to Duns next so looking forward to that and let’s hope the rain stays away.”

Brad Anderson – MX1 8TH Overall – Championship Position 4th
It was a tough day at the office for the current British MX1 champion Brad Anderson. Brad came to Mallory Park with the #1 red plate but things didn’t go quite to plan on the day.
“I was very disappointed with the track today and I’m not the only one. It was very difficult to pass on a single lined track; we were all going the same speed. I need to work hard this week and get back into the groove, I’m still in 4th place in the championship but I can’t afford any more results like today. I left to much work to do when I dropped it on the start. Duns is a brilliant track so things will change there.”

Martin Barr – MX2 5th Overall – Championship Position 3rd
After a few tough weeks sorting his battered face Martin Barr was looking to keep his charge on for the MX2 championship. With pins now cemented into his cheekbone the Irishman stayed focused on the job at Mallory Park.
“I struggled today I didn’t get on with the track, it was very rutty and just couldn’t get a flow going all day. I’ve lost a few points today but I’m still 3rd in the championship which is a consolation. I will need to up my game at the remaining rounds and just get on with it.”

Luke Hawkins – MX2 15th Overall – Championship Position 14th
“Every week that Luke races he improves in speed and gains more in his confidence at racing some of the fastest riders in Europe. This season is all about building speed and strength for the youngest team rider of PAR Honda.
“I crashed in qualifying which didn’t help matters and bent my clamps. I got a little angry in the first race and finished 9th which I was happy about but after that my rhythm seemed to disappear and ended up with arm pump which I never get. Maybe it was the track or me just not being relaxed enough – it was tough today.”

The next event for the team will be the new ACU MX323 series at Torrington in Devon this coming weekend.
